The following steps solve some of the more common problems for getting your
PLUS remote mouse adapter to function properly. Many problems are solved
via these troubleshooting steps.
Knowledge of enabling and disabling ports in your laptop/desktop may be
needed. As every computer varies by manufacturer and type, we ask that you
consult either the IS department in your company or your Computer's Technical
Support hotline for help enabling or disabling ports in your laptop/desktop.
The
following steps solve some of the more common problems and usually do not
require help from an IS department:
- Check all cables for bent pins or other irregularities. Make sure
you have all the proper adapters you will need to attach to the port
on your laptop/desktop computer.
- With the computer turned off, connect the remote mouse receiver using
one of the following adapters that fits your port. Serial(square), PS/2(round)
or MAC Adapter (round with T on top).
- Start your computer.
- After booting, if mouse receiver does not work you will need to proceed
to the next set of steps.
The following steps solve some most or all problems related to the remote
mouse not functioning. These steps usually require a good understanding
of how to operate your laptop/desktop (specifically enabling or disabling
ports). If you are unsure with any of these steps, please contact your
company's IS department or your Computer's Technical Support Hotline:
- With the computer on and the remote mouse attached to the port, open
"Control Panels" (found on your Start Menu).
- Double Click on the "Add New Hardware" icon. Follow the steps it provides,
and let it search for the new mouse receiver you just added. If it finds
a new mouse device select the option and let it reboot. If it does not
proceed to step 3.
- If you have an icon labeled "Mouse" or "Logitech" double click on
it
a. Look for a tab on top of the new window labeled either "Device",
"General", or "Setting" (if you do not see this go to step 4).
b. Next to name click on "change"
c. Select "Show all devices"
d. Select "Standard mouse types from the list in the left column"
e. Select either Serial or PS/2 in the right column
f. Click "okay" twice
g. Shutdown Windows and Reboot
If the steps above do not work try these following other options:
- If possible find a real mouse and attach it to your computer. Call
your IS department or your Computer's Technical Support Hotline and
have them assist you in getting that mouse to work. Once that mouse
works, it is most likely that our remote mouse will work. Follow the
first three steps of this document (easy setup) to attach our remote
mouse.
- If you have an IR port (sometimes known as IrDr) disable it. Usually
you can do this by going to control panels and then system. Look up
IR and select properties, under properties select disable. Because of
the variety of different IR ports we cannot guarantee this will work.
Please consult your computer manual or call either your IS department
or your computer's Technical Support Hotline.
- Consult your Computer Manual or call either your IS department or
computer's Technical Support Hotline and find out how to disable the
internal mouse if your computer is a laptop.
- If you are using a PS/2 port, try the serial port and adapter instead.
