REVOLUTIONARY
PLUS® WHITEBOARD INTEGRATES COMPUTERS, INTERNET, WRITTEN AND SPOKEN
WORD PRESENTATIONS INTO ONE REAL-TIME COMMUNICATIONS TOOL!
Now
available for the incredible list price of only $2,199, PoinTechT
is designed to integrate all the digital tools of the 21st Century
with the traditional power of written and spoken word presentations.
LAS
VEGAS, NEVADA, June 13, 2001 Calling it the next great
advance in real-time interactive communications, PLUS® announces
the immediate availability of PoinTech,
the world's first whiteboard that allows business leaders, teachers,
trainers, and communicators to combine spoken and written presentations
with PCs and the Internet in one seamless communications tool.
The
revolutionary capabilities provided by PoinTech are being demonstrated
at INFOCOMM 2001 Booth #13060, at the Sands Expo and Convention
Center in Las Vegas.
Under
development for the last two years, PoinTech actually allows communicators
to record and save, in one integrated file, their every spoken and
written presentation in sequence presentations that can be
distributed on disk and played back later. What's more, information
written in freehand on the whiteboard's surface is automatically
captured in a compact data file on the connected PC, where it can
be saved, printed, or distributed over the Internet. Finally, PoinTech
allows communicators to project computer software applications onto
its screen surface and then operate the software application
by touching the screen with a special Stylus Pen that is included
with the system.
"PoinTech
is the first true real-time interactive whiteboard that can successfully
integrate the oldest and the newest forms of communication into
one seamless system," said PLUS® Corporation of America
Director of Sales Jim Hurst. "There isn't a teacher, a trainer,
a public speaker, or business leader who couldn't benefit immediately
from this tool."
PoinTech,
for all its technology and performance features, is very easy to
set up and operate. It is also extremely light, weighing a mere
31 pounds. PoinTech also features a large 72" wide diagonal
non-glare screen and the optional ability, with the purchase of
the mimio boardCast plug-in audio software, to save spoken word
presentations recorded in real-time and synchronized with what is
being written on the board's surface. The integrated audio and written
presentation data are captured as a streaming Internet file stored
on a hard drive or Web server for live or on-demand playback through
a freely downloadable Real Networks® Real Player®.
Built-in
Internet linkage for PoinTech is provided through the board's built-in
plug-in connectivity to Microsoft® NetMeeting. An optional
floor stand is available for PoinTech at list price of $499. If
the floor stand is not desired, PoinTech can be easily mounted onto
a wall.
Another
attractive option is the writingRecognition software plug-in, which
upgrades the PoinTech software with the capability to convert printed
or cursive English handwriting captured from the PoinTech board
to editable text. This text can be spellchecked and dropped into
any standard text or word processing application.
Ideal
for business presentations and computer classroom applications is
PoinTech's activeMouse Mode operation. When operating in this mode,
the screen of the connected PC is actually projected onto the board's
surface. Then, using the special PoinTech Stylus Pen as a computer
mouse, presenters can completely control the operation of the computer,
accessing any word processing, spreadsheet, browser and other applications,
inputting characters and numbers as desired, by using an onscreen
keyboard! Presenters can also write directly on the board's surface
and transmit the written information back to the connected computer.
images can be saved as either BMP or JPEG files.
Ideal
for teachers is PoinTech's Real-Time Mode operation. When operating
in this mode, extending the features of standard electronic whiteboards,
PoinTech allows teachers to write on the board with a marker and
capture all information in real-time on a connected computer, where
it can be saved, replayed, exported to standard image file type,
exported to HTML for placing on Web sites, drag and dropped into
other documents, distributed on disk, or printed in color on paper
for students. All PoinTech recorded data are captured in a time-based
vector file, which is both very compact for storage and permits
sequential review of everything written. And with the mimio boardCast
plug-in audio software, teachers can simultaneously record what
they are saying
as they write on the board's surface.
In
developing the PoinTech real-time interactive whiteboard, PLUS®
formed a technical affiliation with Virtual Ink Corporation, based
in Boston, Massachusetts. Through this affiliation, PLUS® is
able to incorporate Virtual Ink's infrared and ultrasound technology
into the PoinTech whiteboard a first for any whiteboard manufacturer.
What's more, the two companies have jointly developed software that
makes full use of PLUS®' expertise as a digital projector
manufacturer. This collaboration has enabled the production of a
large, easy to operate screen that brings greater benefits and cost-savings
to the end-user.
Coincident
with the new PoinTech real-time interactive whiteboard, PLUS®
is also making three major digital projector introductions at INFOCOMM
2001. Solidifying its position as Japan's #1 DLP
projector manufacturer, PLUS® is introducing the world's first
2-lb. digital projectors, the V Series, and a new and improved U3
Series of 3-lb. digital projectors, delivering 1,000 ANSI Lumens
of brightness. In addition, PLUS® is unveiling the HE-3100 Home
Projector the world's smallest, lightest digital projector
for high-quality, large-screen home viewing.
