Q5 What if I have an infrared port on my laptop?

Answer

If you have an infrared (IRDA) port on your laptop, and a serial port conflict arises, you may need to disconnect the IR port, or reassign it to another COM port before you can use PoinTech. On most laptops, the IR port is disabled unless you specifically turn it on. However, some models, like the IBM ThinkPad, automatically enable the IR port and assign it to COM 1.Please read the manual for your computer to disable the IR port.
Note - For Windows 95B (OSR2) and Windows 98 users, there should be an icon in the Windows System Tray (near the clock on your Windows Desktop) enabling and disabling your IR port.
