2. Using with a Projector (Projection Mode)

2.1 How to Connect to the Equipment

Turn off your computer.

Take out  your PoinTech serial cable. It has two ends that are different.
* One end has a single serial connector.
* The other end has a serial connector and a PS/2 connector.

3 Connect the end with the single serial connector  to the PoinTech serial port. Connect the end with the PS/2 pass-through connector and serial connector to the corresponding ports on your PC.
4 If you wish to connect the mouse, connect it to the PS/2 pass-through connector port.
5 Connect the PC and projector with a  RGB cable, and turn on all devices.
6 Project the image with the projector to adjust the location and size of the projection.
Note: Either PS/2 mouse port or PS/2 keyboard port may be used to connect the pass-through connector.

2.2 Get Ready with the Styli

Place the supplied pointer insert into the Stylus. 


2.3 Calibration

Once the calibration settings is done, you can keep the same setting, as long as your projector and board are put in the same location.

Power on your PC, and start PoinTech application.

2 Connect the PC to the projector, and project the computer display onto the board.
3 Press ActiveMouse Button on the on-screen Toolbar.

Follow the calibration instructions. The screen such as on the right will be projected on to the board. Click on the center of the "x" mark 9 times with your Stylus. 

 

5 Now you can use the Stylus as a mouse pointer on the board. 
Note: Unless you change the location of the projector or its projected screen, same calibration settings will be effective. 
Note: Go to Tools menu > ActiveMouse > Preferences to set the calibration settings.

 

Note: The area of 3.9 inches from the left edge is a margin, where no operation could be done. Please make sure to operate within the right side against the margin. 

2.4 Operate the ActiveMouse 

You can operate the keyboard on your computer by operating the ActiveMousepalette displayed on the board.

This is the button to operate your mouse. You can undo the operation with this button.

right-click It allows you to right-click. 

onscreen keyboard
It allows you to operate the keyboard on your computer.
pen It allows you to write and draw on the board.
highlighter Handy for highlighting important items.
outline tools Highlight the border of a section on the board.
area tools Highlight a section on the board.
eraser Erases what you have written on the board.

color/width palette
It allows you to select the color/width of the pen or highlighter.
capture screen Saves the entire screen to your PC.

capture area
Saves the selected area to your PC.
print screen Prints current the screen contents.

2.5 Write Over with the Stylus

1 Use the Stylus to select the pen tools button to press the highlighter button.
2 On the color/width palette, select the pen Color and Width.

Write over the content on the board with the pen.

 

4 The mouse pointer button erases the whole contents from your board at once, while the eraser button erases only some portion from your contents. 

2.6 Write Over with the Highlighter

1 Use the Stylus to select the pen tools button to press the highlighter button.
2 On the color/width palette, select the pen color and thickness.
3 Write over the content on the board with the highlighter.
4 The mouse pointer button erases the whole contents from your board at once, while the eraser button erases only some portion from your contents.  

2.7 Arrow Features

This feature enables you to draw an arrow from the point where you put your mouse until you release your Stylus.  

1 Use the Stylus to press the down arrow button in the pen tools button.
2 Select color and width from the palette.
3 You can start drawing an arrow from the point where you put your Stylus and while you drag it. You can finish drawing by releasing the Stylus.

2.8 Outline Tools

Highlight the outline of a section on the display. The tools circle the section with rectangle or circle. 

1 Use the Stylus to select the pen tools button to press the outline tools button.
2 On the color/width palette, select the color.
3 In order to draw either rectangle or circle with Stylus, put your Stylus on the board and drag it diagonally. Then release your Stylus. Either rectangle or circle should be displayed. 

2.9 Area Tools

Highlight a section on the display. The tool acts just like a real highlighter pen to circle the section with rectangle or circle.

1 Use the Stylus to select the pen tools button to press the area tools button.
2 On the color/width palette, select the color.
3 In order to draw either rectangle or circle with Stylus, put your Stylus on the board and drag it diagonally. Then release your Stylus. Either rectangle or circle should be displayed. 

2.10 Erase What You Have Written

1 Use the Stylus to select the pen tools button to press the eraser button.
2 Select the eraser size from the color/width palette.
3 The eraser will function like a physical eraser. Use it to erase the contents on the board. 
4 You can use mouse button to erase the whole contents at once.

2.11 Select Color and Width

1 Press the palette button in the ActiveMouse palette.

You can access to the 16-color palette by pressing the color palette button. Choose the color you want from this palette.

If you wish to choose other colors, press Other button. You can customize and add the color with this screen. 


4  You can choose the pen width from the four different sizes.

2.12 Capture a Screen Shot

1 In order to enter the markup mode, use your Stylus to click the highlighter icon in the ActiveMouse tool bar.

Go to the ActiveMouse toolbar to press the snapshot button. Then select either capture screen or capture area.

If you select capture area, press the capture area icon again. Then drag your Stylus on the board to determine the area you intend to capture. And capture it. 

 

 

3 Select the location for your screen capture to be saved to. 
4 If you wish to save your screen capture in the same location, tick the checkbox.
5 The image file could be saved in either BMP or JPEG format. 
6 If you wish to change the file format go to Tools > ActiveMouse > Preferences.

2.13 Print the Screen

1 In order to enter the markup mode, use your Stylus to click the highlighter icon in the ActiveMouse tool bar.
2 Press the snapshot button in the ActiveMouse toolbar.

Click the print screen icon and select Tool.

Click the print screen icon again. The screen is printed to the printer configured as a default printer with Tools > ActiveMouse > Preferences.
