Turlock Junior High School Awarded Three PLUS Vision Projectors BEAVERTON, ORE. - May 20, 2002- PLUS Vision Corporation of America, the leader in projector miniaturization technology, today announces Turlock Junior High School in Turlock, Calif. as the latest recipient of three PLUS Vision ultraportable projectors through its Education Spotlight grant program. Through the Education Spotlight program, PLUS Vision grants three projectors and an electronic copyboard to a selected school each quarter, reflecting its commitment to increase the effective use of multimedia in K-12 education. To encourage creative and successful uses of multimedia, PLUS Vision asks applicants to provide a unique example of how the projectors will be used in the classroom and chooses recipients based on their responses. Peter Gannon, an eighth grade social studies teacher at Turlock Junior High School, submitted this quarter's winning response. "Today's students are visual learners," Gannon said. "To teach them, you have to get their attention. Technology is cool to them, and when you incorporate it into a lesson, all of a sudden, the kids are riveted." Gannon has a wide-range of plans for the projectors from web-surfing for maps related to Lewis and Clark history lessons in the classroom to setting up a school theater in the cafetorium promoting social interaction and motivating kids in a rewards program. "Using the projectors allows us to provide students with a memorable learning experience, increasing their retention level," Gannon continued. "Just reading from a textbook doesn't reel them in." Through the Education Spotlight program, PLUS Vision hopes to empower teachers to incorporate this technology into their lessons. "The effective use of multimedia in the classroom greatly enhances a student's learning experience and has been shown to increase information retention," said S. Mark Hand, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for PLUS Vision. "Through programs like Education Spotlight, PLUS Vision demonstrates its commitment to putting this powerful technology tool into the hands of more educators." In addition to the Education Spotlight grant program, PLUS Vision offer a wide range of projectors at prices affordable for schools and school districts, starting as low as $1,995.
