LIGHTWARE,
CASIO JOIN FORCES TO OFFER COMPLETE MOBILE PRESENTATION SOLUTION
All-in-One Briefcase Presenter Package
Packs a Punch at a Light Weight
Beaverton,
OR
November 01, 1999 - Lightware, maker of the Scout family of
portable, affordable LCD projectors, is partnering with Casio Business
Solutions to offer the first all-in-one presentation system, contained
entirely within a single executive briefcase at a combined weight
of approximately seven pounds. Designed for traveling professionals,
the Briefcase Presenter, starting at just $3,995, features the new
Scout 2000 or original multimedia Scout, and the Cassiopeia Fiva,
Casio's sub-two pound full featured mini-notebook computer, in a
lightweight travel case that fits easily under the seat or overhead
on an airplane.
"Lightware
was first to bring ultraportable projection technology into the
consumer electronic price range," Mike Oyama, senior director, Casio
Business Solutions, said. "We feel that the Cassiopeia Fiva is the
perfect companion for either member of the Scout projector family
- creating a completely compatible, state of the art, portable presentation
system at an affordable price."
The
Scout and Scout 2000 deliver 500 ANSI lumens of sharp, high resolution
images and take up less space than a telephone book. The original
Scout, released earlier this year, offers S-video connectivity and
built in speakers for full multimedia capability through the projector.
The new Scout 2000, a streamlined version weighing less than five
pounds, utilizes the drivers and outputs of any multimedia laptop
to bring presentations to life.
Casio's
slim, lightweight Cassiopeia Fiva features a 200 MHz processor,
3.2 gigabyte hard drive, 64 megabytes of RAM, 56K modem, USB port,
800 x 600 TFT display and comes pre-loaded with Windows 98.
"The
Cassiopeia Fiva, weighing less than two pounds, is the perfect complement
to the Scout family," said Jim Searles, vice president, sales and
marketing, Lightware. "By working with Casio to incorporate all
the components into a unified system, we've eliminated compatibility
concerns. The Briefcase Presenter is guaranteed to 'plug and project'
because we know all of the variables."
The
Briefcase Presenter answers the call of sales professionals and
other road warrior presenters looking for extreme portability and
ease of use functionality. At the same time, IT managers can rest
assured they've equipped their sales force with compatible, standardized
presentation tools.
The
individual components come connected in the bag, allowing the user
to just plug and present. The package also includes an external
floppy drive, port replicator, 56K modem and PCMCIA slot for easy
network connection, allowing for quick loading from various sources.
Windows 98 enables last minute changes to any presentation from
anywhere.
At
$3,995 with the Scout 2000 or $4,395 with the original Scout, the
Briefcase Presenter is less than the cost of many single projectors
alone. By itself, the Scout 2000 sells for $2,495; $2,995 for the
Scout, which in both cases is nearly $2000 below the cost of most
of the competition.
Lightware
will offer the Briefcase Presenter through direct sales and select
dealers.
