LIGHTWARE
AND PLUS ENCOURAGE EFFECTIVE USE OF MULTIMEDIA IN THE CLASSROOM THROUGH
EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
BEAVERTON, Ore. - Nov. 5, 2001 - Lightware, the leader in ultraportable,
affordable projection technology and PLUS Corporation of America,
the leader in innovative projection solutions, today announce the
Education Spotlight Program. Through the program, Lightware and PLUS
will donate three projectors and an electronic copyboard to a selected
school each quarter, reflecting a commitment to increase the effective
use of multimedia learning in K-12 education.
To encourage creative and successful uses of multimedia, PLUS and
Lightware ask educators to give a unique example of how the projectors
will be used when applying for the award. Recipients are chosen based
upon their response, and PLUS and Lightware will share innovative
applications with other educators on the Lightware website at www.lightware/spotlight.
"The effective use of multimedia in the classroom has been shown
to greatly increase students' information retention," said S.
Mark Hand, President of Lightware. "Through this program, we
intend not only to spread the usage of multimedia technology, but
also to allow educators to share effective techniques with their colleagues."
This quarter, Ogden Middle School in Oregon became the first award
recipient. Students and teachers at Ogden have expressed their excitement
about the technology.
"Ensuring the latest technology in our classrooms will dramatically
enhance our ability to educate," said Steve Kmetic, Eighth grade
math teacher at Ogden. "My lessons are more enjoyable, and the
students are truly excited... I cannot express how excited I am to
use this technology and I wonder how I did it before."
In addition to the Education Spotlight promotion, PLUS and Lightware
offer a wide range of projectors at prices affordable for schools
and districts, starting as low as $1095. Visit the Lightware website
at www.lightware.com for more
information. To be eligible for the donation, simply fill out an application
form at www.lightware.com/spotlight.
